Workplace Diversity Statement
The Friends fully supports all applicable federal, state, and local workplace diversity laws and regulations.In addition, we fully support the diversity of the Silver Lake community.
As has been pointed out by one of our members, so-called "middle-class youngsters" are underrepresented in the food service, retail, and Indian gaming industries. Therefore, we will encourage all relevant employers to conduct outreach programs to such prospective employees. This may involve establishing tables at CSUN (or similar) employment fairs, placing ads in newspapers, and the like.
Further, we will encourage those employers to give a mileage allowance (currently set at $0.38 per mile) to all employees from out of the area. We feel this will help increase the diversity of Silver Lake, to the benefit of all.
